What is the Pip Value Calculator?

A pip is the smallest standardised price movement in a trading instrument. For most forex pairs it is 0.0001, and for JPY pairs it is 0.01. Knowing the monetary value of a pip is essential for calculating risk, setting stop losses, and sizing positions correctly.

The Funded7 Pip Value Calculator converts pip movements into real monetary values in your account currency using live exchange rates. It works across all asset classes including forex, metals, indices, and crypto.

How to use it

  • Select your asset class using the pills at the top.
  • Choose your symbol from the dropdown.
  • Select your account currency: USD or JPY.
  • Set your volume in lots using the stepper.
  • The calculator instantly shows you the pip value for your full position, the pip value per standard lot, and the minimum price movement for the selected instrument.
Example: 1 lot of EUR/USD with a USD account — one pip movement is worth $10.00. If your stop loss is 20 pips away, your maximum risk on that trade is $200.

Frequently Asked Questions

A pip stands for “percentage in point” and represents the smallest standardised price movement for a trading instrument. For most forex pairs, one pip equals 0.0001. For JPY pairs such as USD/JPY, one pip equals 0.01 because the pair is quoted to fewer decimal places.

Pip value is the foundation of position sizing and risk management. When you know exactly how much each pip movement is worth in your account currency, you can calculate precisely how many lots to trade to keep your risk within the limits set by your trading plan or funded account rules.

Pip value varies because different pairs have different contract sizes, quote currencies, and exchange rates. A pip on EUR/USD is worth a different dollar amount than a pip on GBP/JPY because the quote currencies and current exchange rates are different. The calculator handles all of this automatically using live rates.

For gold (XAU/USD), the pip size is 0.01 and the contract size is 100 troy ounces. For silver (XAG/USD), the contract size is 5,000 troy ounces with a pip size of 0.001. These instruments have larger contract sizes, which means pip values can be significantly higher than for standard forex pairs.

Multiply the pip value per lot by the number of lots you plan to trade, then multiply by the number of pips to your stop loss. For example, if the pip value is $10 per lot, you are trading 2 lots, and your stop loss is 15 pips away, your risk on that trade is $10 × 2 × 15 = $300.

Yes, pip value fluctuates as exchange rates move. The calculator uses rates updated daily from a live data source, so the values shown reflect current market conditions rather than fixed approximations.
